App Store App Preview Video Specs

Updated for 2026

FAQ

How long can an App Store app preview be?

Between 15 and 30 seconds. Apple hard-rejects previews outside this range.

What format does the App Store accept for app previews?

H.264 or Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) in MOV, MP4, or M4V containers. Audio should be AAC at 256kbps or higher.

Can I use the same app preview for every device size?

No. Each device size slot needs its own preview at the correct resolution. Apple does not scale videos the way it scales screenshots.

Do I need an app preview to launch?

No — app previews are optional. Screenshots are required, previews are not.
